Small Projects

I have been doing a lot of projects lately for around my house but have been so busy with my Design Jobs I haven't had time to even post them. This first one I have been wanting to do for a year. I'm pathetic at finishing up projects and this one only took me five minutes to do. It was amazing. My work had this Key in a Frame with Burlap behind it for only $10 but they also had these keys on a ring for only $2 so I went to Ikea and bought me a frame that was only $1.99 and I had some left over Burlap from a previous project.

The frame was only like a 4x3 or something. I took it all apart. Got ride of the glass and cut out some burlap the same size as the back panel of the frame.
I took apart my Key ring and got my favorite key out. I hot glued the burlap to the back panel and the key to the burlap and that was it. SO EASY. Way cute for what only $4. Pretty dang easy.

One of my favorite projects that I am in the process of working on is my Office/Craft Room. When I moved into my house there were so many extra rooms I decided to make one just for me. I want it to be ultra Feminine with lavender, black, and white. Some floral and very Paris style. Anyway I got this desk for free! It was headed to the DI and I snagged it before it made it there. It was a really ugly dark wood but had great potential!

So I sanded it down, added some Vaseline to the corners where I wanted the paint to chip off easily and painted it a pure white Martha Stewart Paint. When it dried I sanded off the edges of where I had put the Vaseline and added a little glaze to the three top drawers with the decal. I put the same handles back on but am not loving it. I want to go get some crystal nobs instead so eventually when my room is finished I'll show the final pictures of it but for now it is so dang cute and perfect for my Cricket Cutter and sewing machine.

I need a cute Black and White parsons chair to go with it. Please ignore the ugly Burlap covered ottoman. That will not be staying.

Then one of the other things I did so far for my room is my Chalk board. I really wanted to paint a whole accent wall in the chalk board paint but my hubby wasn't having it. He was so nervous that we could never recover it. So for the time being until I can convince him of the new paints we have these days to recover it this will do. I love it. I was once a metal magnet board with a ugly wood frame. My sister in law found it at a yard sale for me for only $10. So I just painted the whole thing in chalk board paint and have used it so much. I try to keep all my design jobs somewhat in order on it. It's a lot of fun but I could definitely use something a little bigger. Like MY WHOLE WALL! The time will come.

Then this is off the subject of my office but its my new love.  My work had these lamps come in.... THEY WERE AMAZING! What a statement piece. The only problem about 90% of them came in damaged. So lucky me! I was able to get the best deal in the whole world on them. In the picture below notice the Price Tag and the small crack underneath where you twist your bulb in. That was all that was wrong with it. Just FYI I paid probably a tenth of that cost. A little less then that even.

This thing is HUGE! Like almost 4ft tall. The barrel shade is about a ft in diameter. I have no IDEA where I will use it because I don't have furniture large enough to put it on but who could pass up such a deal. ITS AMAZING and will sit in my closet until I figure out its home. LOVE IT THOUGH!
